Welcome!
I'm an earth scientist by
training,
and a
teacher and
photojournalist by trade. I received a
Bachelor of Science degree and a Certificate of
Environmental Studies
from the University of
Wisconsin-Madison. I continued my education at the
Ohio University
where I focused my studies on
natural
hazards and visual communications
and earned
a Master
of Arts degree. Today, my photographs
appear
in
television newscasts,
popular books,
national
imagery
collections, government
publications, and
other media. I'm a current member
of the American
Geophysical Union
and the American Society of
Picture
Professionals.

Natural
hazards have always been my passion
and their tragedies have always been
my
frustration. Through improved
visualization,
I believe we can gain
a better understanding
of
how they
work and how we can live with
them. My photography works to this end.
